About
Plants run dark-leaved and tall, often 90 to 120 cm, and set gnarly 5 cm pods with thick, wrinkled walls and a short tail. Unripe fruit starts purple-green, then flushes pink and peach. Sun-exposed pods keep purple streaks. Shaded ones finish a cleaner peach. Flavor is floral and sweet before a superhot burn, and the placenta is oily enough that one pod will heat a sauce. Plan on 100 to 150 days after transplant. Color and shape can drift because most seed lots are still segregating.
Backstory
Sbagliato is Italian for mistaken or wrong. Italian grower Emanuele Addis gave the pepper that name. Shops now sell peach, red, and orange color sports under it, and many US packets still warn that color and generation are not locked.
