About
Ripe pods are small and wrinkled, often with a hooked tail that looks like a stinger. They finish dark red. The first bite is sweet and floral, then a slow chinense burn fills the mouth and throat. Walls are firm enough for sauce, and a well-spaced plant can load up with fruit. Give it a long warm season. A bush can reach five feet and spread nearly as wide.
Backstory
Khang Starr made this line in Texas in 2015 because he wanted one plant for sauce work instead of growing a flavor pepper and a heat pepper side by side. The Hornet name comes from the sharp tail on the fruit. He still grows a rounder bonnet shape and a curvier hooked shape, and he only keeps pods that meet his rules for taste, color, and form.
