About
Ripe pods are creamy white to ivory, elongated and lumpy, with thin wrinkled skin. Flavor opens citrusy and a little sweet, then a floral bitterness under a clean superhot burn that hits the throat first. Plants reach about 3 to 4 feet and load well in a long warm season. The pale fruit dries and powders without staining a light sauce the way a red ghost does.
Backstory
Jay Weaver selected this gnarlier white Bhut on the family farm near Bowers in eastern Pennsylvania. Specialty catalogs began listing it as W Strain or JW in the mid-2010s, and growers still recognize the line by the longer, pimply ivory pod.
