Villalon’s 1983 HortScience release documents the 1981 TAM Mild Jalapeño-1 as a selection from complex crosses that include Avelar and Jalapeno L. Later citations and seed catalogs confirm the Texas A&M origin and mild character without adding conflicting parents.
