About
The T-Rex Yellow is a Capsicum chinense superhot hybrid of Trinidad Douglah and Bhutlah Yellow. Plants grow vigorously to 3–4 ft (90–120 cm) and set heavy yields of 8–12 cm pods that are heavily wrinkled, twisted, and often tipped with stinger tails. Fruit ripens from green to a bright glowing yellow. Flavor opens fruity and citrusy with floral notes before the intense heat (estimated 1–1.5 million SHU) builds and lingers. Still somewhat unstable, pod shape can vary. Best suited to experienced growers seeking extreme heat and distinctive appearance for sauces and powders.
Backstory
A relatively new Capsicum chinense hybrid developed in the United States from a cross of Trinidad 7 Pot Douglah and Bhutlah Yellow. The yellow phenotype was selected around 2018 from T-Rex mustard/red lines; the variety is still regarded as somewhat unstable, producing variable but characteristically gnarled, twisted pods.
