About

Compact plants carry purple, white, and green variegated leaves. Small tapered pods start dark purple, pass through violet stripes, and finish red with residual purple blotches. Fully ripe fruit is slightly sweet with a mild jalapeño-like warmth. Plants stay short enough for pots and produce steadily in full sun.

Backstory

Graeme Chaplin of Western Australia bred Scarlett's Chili from a Purple Tiger and a jalapeño. Seed companies later carried the line forward and now sell it as a stabilized open-pollinated ornamental.
