Culinary
About
Ring of Fire is an open-pollinated cayenne-type variety developed by Petoseed in the 1980s. It features compact, high-yielding plants reaching 18-36 inches tall that set early crops of slender 4-6 inch peppers. Fruits ripen from green to glossy fire-engine red with thin walls and clean, bright heat in the 20,000-50,000 SHU range. Excellent for powder, flakes, hot sauces, ristras, and versatile culinary applications. Widely grown by home gardeners for its dependability and earliness.
Backstory
Bred by the Petoseed company in the 1980s specifically as an improved, early-maturing cayenne adapted to the short warm seasons of northern United States gardens. It gained popularity as a reliable, high-yielding home garden staple and remains available from many specialty seed suppliers today.
