About
Purple Gator Jigsaw is a striking Capsicum chinense superhot developed by Italian breeder Rocco Maltesi as a purple phenotype of the Gator Jigsaw line. Pods measure roughly 4–5 cm, start near-black purple, and mature to deep reddish-orange often mottled with residual purple; most carry Reaper-like stinger tails and heavily wrinkled, gnarly skin. Plants produce dark foliage, reach 90–150 cm, and are notably prolific once established. Heat is extreme (estimated 1–2 million SHU) with a fruity-floral entry that builds into a long, throat-focused burn. Still somewhat variable in filial generation according to some growers.
Backstory
The base Gator Jigsaw arose as a natural mustard-colored mutation of Fatalii Gourmet Jigsaw discovered by Florida grower James Hill in the late 2010s. Italian breeder Rocco Maltesi later stabilized the line and developed the Purple Gator Jigsaw (often described as a cross with Carolina Reaper Purple), releasing the striking dark-foliage, color-shifting phenotype to the enthusiast community.
