## Heritage

Landrace

Padrón is a traditional landrace.

The EU PDO specification and Herbón’s Consejo Regulador describe Padrón as local Galician ecotypes kept since Franciscan monks brought Mexican seed to Herbón in the 17th century. Peer-reviewed papers call it a landrace; none name parents.
