About

Plants set heavy crops of tapered fruit about 4 to 5 inches long, with thick juicy walls and smooth skin. Color runs green to red. Flavor is classic jalapeño and a notch hotter than many grocery types, which suits poppers, salsa, pickling, and grilling. Bushes reach about 2 to 3 feet and start yielding around 69 days after transplant. Commercial packets list intermediate resistance to potato virus Y and tobacco etch.

Backstory

American seed houses have sold Mucho Nacho as a first-generation jumbo jalapeño since at least the early 2000s. The inbred parents stay unpublished. Some listings call the type Mexican because that is where jalapeños come from. Reimer lists the variety as from the USA.
