Hot sauce and chile powder.

About

Pods run about 5 to 8 cm with thin wrinkled walls and a large placenta. Ripe color is chocolate brown. The smell is tropical and a little earthy. A sweet first bite gives way to a hard hot burn. Thin walls suit sauce and powder, not stuffing. Shape can drift long with a stinger. Fruit set falls off above about 95 F.

Backstory

Khang Starr released this line from his Fannin County garden in 2016 and shared seed through the Pepper Lovers community. Chocolate and crimson fruit showed up on the same plants. As of 2026, packets still warn that chocolate plants can throw red pods.
