About
Pods start green, pick up a peach blush, and finish glossy orange, about 5 to 8 cm long, with shallow ridges and few seeds. Fresh fruit is crunchy. A lime-citrus start gives way to a sweet tropical middle. Heat lives mostly in the placenta and stays in the hot band. Plants get large and set heaviest once midsummer heat eases. Walls blister in a pan and dry into bright flakes.
Backstory
Khang Starr grew this orange selection in Fannin County, Texas, and named it in a 2019 tasting video after holding a pod upright and seeing a flame. A red cousin from the same garden, Flaming Torch, came first. Small US catalogs now sell the orange line, and a yellow counterpart later came off the same plants.
