About
Ripe fruit is gold, darker than Lemon Starrburst, on the same round bonnet body as Peach Starrkist, sometimes with a short tail. Flavor is sweet and tropical with a citrus lift. It is a hot chinense, not a superhot. Plants run four to five feet and can load more than a hundred pods in a long warm season. The pods work in hot sauce, salsa, and dried flakes.
Backstory
Khang Starr selected the Starrkist and Starrburst colors in North Texas after a 2016 breeding project. The names he uses are Lemon Starrburst, Peach Starrkist, and Scarlet Rose. Texas Hot Peppers later sold a gold-ripe Peach Starrkist sport under this Golden Starrkist label.
