About

Ripe pods are elongated and chocolate to reddish brown, about 7 to 10 cm long, with thin wrinkled skin and sometimes a small stinger. Fresh fruit is floral and earthy, with a light sweetness. Dried pods lean smoky. Plants are tall, often a meter to about 120 cm, and need a long warm season. The heat is superhot and comes on slowly.

Backstory

Mike Hess, a grower in Illinois, is named as the person who released Kraken Scorpion in 2013. A 2018 grower note calls him the originator and stabilizer. No release sheet or interview from Hess turned up, and shop pages still disagree on the exact parents.
