Holy Mole is a hybrid pasilla-type pepper released for home gardens that want mole flavor from a plant that sets earlier and heavier than a traditional chilaca. Pods ripen from green to dark chocolate brown and stay mild.

About
The fruit is long and smooth, 7 to 9 inches by about an inch and a half, with medium walls. Flavor is nutty and tangy. Green pods can be sliced or stuffed. Brown pods are the ones to dry and grind for mole, rubs, and stews. Plants stay about 2 to 3 feet tall, take full sun, and resist tobacco mosaic virus and potato virus Y. Green harvest starts near 85 days from transplant. The chocolate stage takes closer to 110.
Backstory
Seminis Vegetable Seeds brought Holy Mole out as the first hybrid pasilla-type pepper, and All-America Selections named it the 2007 edible vegetable winner for vigor, yield, and virus resistance. The same cultivar is sold to growers as Salvatierra.
