About

Gypsy is an early-maturing hybrid sweet pepper (Capsicum annuum) prized for its elongated, tapered, 3-lobed fruits that ripen from pale yellow-green through orange to bright red. The thin-skinned peppers offer crisp, juicy flesh with intense sweetness when ripe and no bitterness. Prolific, compact, and versatile—harvest at any color for frying, stuffing, salads or raw use. TMV resistant and reliable producer.

Backstory

Developed in 1980 by Petoseed Co. in Southern California as an F1 hybrid cross between a bell pepper and a sweet Italian bullhorn pepper. Bred for early maturity, high yields, thin walls, and tobacco mosaic virus resistance. Awarded All-America Selections status in 1981 for outstanding garden performance.
