About
Pods are elongated, strongly twisted and wrinkled, usually 6 to 9 cm long, ripening from light green to canary yellow or yellow-orange if left longer. Walls are thin. Flavor is fruity with tropical and citrus notes and a clean habanero-style heat. Plants stay compact and productive, often 60 to 100 cm tall, and do well in containers or beds under warm conditions. Use fresh in Malaysian achar, sambal, curries, marinades, or hot sauces.
Backstory
Goronong is a traditional place-kept type from Malaysia, where Capsicum chinense is unusual among the mostly annuum and frutescens chilies of the region. The Malay name has been translated as stinger. Specialty growers have carried it as an open-pollinated heirloom for years.
