Gelbes Rüsselchen (“little yellow trunk”) is a German amateur chili grown for early yield and a distinctive snout-shaped fruit. Plants reach 75–100 cm and need staking for long laterals. The thin-walled pods ripen green to sunny yellow, 10–14 cm long and about 10 g each, with a pleasant aroma and medium heat. Suitable for greenhouse, open ground, or a 15 L pot; harvest begins about 60 days after transplant. Eat fresh, slice onto pizza or bread, pickle, or dry.
Backstory
The name means “little yellow trunk” and describes the curved, snout-shaped yellow pods. German organic catalogs list it as an Amateursorte (unregistered amateur variety). Seed is maintained and sold by Albrecht Vetters of Saatguterhaltung in Dürrröhrsdorf-Dittersbach, Saxony. It is not the same cultivar as the older yellow Elefantenrüssel.
