About

Ripe pods are wrinkled, about 4 to 5 cm across, and usually wider than they are long. Flavor is sweet and tropical with a citrus edge, then a hot chinense burn. Kitchen use is jerk paste, hot sauce, salsa, and a dried powder that keeps the aroma. Plants want full sun and a long warm season. In the ground they often top 120 cm. In a pot they stay shorter.

Backstory

Houston collector Beth Boyd, known as the Chile Queen, spotted yellow Scotch Bonnets at a Foodarama supermarket and grew out the best plants through her Peppermania seed list. She was already selling the strain by 2012 and died in 2014. A red sport circulates from the same line. The grocery chain is still open in Houston.
