About

Pods are elongated and tapered, usually 6–9 cm long, with wrinkled skin that starts green and finishes a deep chocolate brown. Walls are thin. Flavor keeps the bright citrus of yellow Fatalii and adds smoky, earthy notes. Plants are productive and grow well in full sun once established. Heat sits in the upper hot range, comparable to strong habanero types.

Backstory

The yellow Fatalii developed in central or southern Africa from Capsicum chinense types introduced from the Americas. Chocolate Fatalii appears in seed catalogs as a later color form or hybrid of that line. Vendor accounts disagree on the exact cross, with some naming an Innovation Acre selection of Chocolate Devil’s Tongue and yellow Fatalii and others naming Fatalii crossed to a brown Peruvian aji.
