About
Pods are elongated and pendant with a rippled or wrinkled skin. They ripen from green through orange to a rich caramel or reddish-caramel color and average about 8 cm. Flesh is medium-walled. Flavor is smoky and sweet with a slightly smoother, more fruity note than the red Ghost before the long superhot burn. Plants are compact to medium and productive once established.
Backstory
Caramel Ghost is a natural color form of the Bhut Jolokia (Ghost Pepper) long kept by farmers in Assam and neighboring Northeast Indian states. Seed catalogs outside India treat the caramel ripening as a stable selection of that traditional type rather than a modern named cross.
