About
Compact plants produce heavy yields of roughly 1.5-by-3-inch wrinkled, lantern-shaped pods that start green and finish peach-orange. The flavor is fruity and floral with a touch of sweetness. It works well in salsas and sauces. Plants mature in about 85 days, two to three weeks earlier than typical open-pollinated habaneros, and carry resistance to Tobacco mosaic virus.
Backstory
Burning Bush is the home-garden brand for the Chichen Itza hybrid habanero. Terry Burke at Seminis developed it in 2002 after starting work on hybrid habaneros the year before; it was among the first commercial hybrid habaneros and showed strong virus tolerance in Mexican trials.
