About

Smooth, thick-walled, mostly two-lobed pods about 5 inches long ripen from glossy dark green to deep chocolate brown. The mild flavor is grassy and poblano-like when green, becoming richer and sweeter at the chocolate stage. Used for chile rellenos, roasting, stuffing, and dried as ancho. Plants are upright and productive, with concentrated fruit set and good leaf cover.

Backstory

Released as an F1 hybrid by the Dutch organic seed company Vitalis Organic Seeds (part of Enza Zaden) to address common issues with traditional poblanos such as late uneven ripening and sunscald. Selected for earliness, uniformity, and canopy protection for commercial organic production.
