## Heritage

Landrace

Aji Verde is a traditional landrace.

USDA’s 1963 Lima-market accession and NMSU’s 1997 Chile Pepper Institute write-up both treat Aji Verde as a northern Peruvian C. baccatum kept on farms, with no named parents. La Molina lists a Piura “verde” the same way.
