Landrace
Aji Guaguao is a traditional landrace.
Cuban INIFAT papers and Hammer’s 1992 inventory treat Ají guaguao as a wild mountain C. frutescens with no named parents. Ethnobotany and catalogs agree it is a traditional local type, not a planned cross.
