About

7 Pot Peach is a modern color form of the Trinidad 7 Pot family. Pods are lantern- to habanero-shaped, about 4–6 cm, and ripen from light green to a soft peach or peachy-orange. Skin is usually wrinkled and pocked like other 7 Pots, though some seed lines are sold as smoother and almost translucent; walls are thin and dry well for powder. Heat is superhot, typically listed at 1–1.2 million SHU—on par with red 7 Pot—though some growers find it a notch milder than the hottest 7 Pot strains. Flavor opens floral and sweet-fruity, sometimes with citrus or light smoke, then a long coal-like throat burn. Plants are bushy, often 80–120 cm, need a long warm season, and yield well in large pots.

Backstory

The 7 Pot name comes from Trinidadian lore that one pod can season seven pots of stew. The parent landrace is a Capsicum chinense from Trinidad, often linked to the Chaguanas area and grown as a rural yard pepper rather than a commercial crop. 7 Pot Peach is a newer peach-colored strain that circulated among growers in the 2010s. Seed catalogs disagree on who made it: one U.S. farm attributes it to an unnamed Dutch grower around 2015; several shops repeat that it is a Red 7 Pot × Jay's Peach Ghost Scorpion cross. Neither claim has a primary breeder interview behind it, and the line is described as fairly but not fully stable.
