About
The 7 Pot Jonah is a larger-podded, fruitier strain of the classic Trinidad 7 Pot pepper (Capsicum chinense). It produces bumpy, lumpy pods ~5 cm long with thin walls that often end in a scorpion-like stinger tail. Pods mature from light green to bright red and deliver intense superhot heat paired with a sweet, bold fruity flavor profile that includes floral and nutty notes.
Backstory
Named for the Trinidadian folklore that one pod seasons seven pots of stew or soup. This specific strain is a landrace from the Chaguanas region of Trinidad and Tobago, with seeds historically linked to local grower Jonah Bajnath; it is prized as a larger, more flavorful variant within the famous 7 Pot superhot family.

Bosland’s 2012 NMSU trial and DeWitt’s 2010 land-race list both treat 7 Pot Jonah as a Trinidad chinense type with no named parents. Catalogs sell Jonah’s Chaguanas stock as a larger local 7 Pot strain, not a planned hybrid.
