About
Ripe pods are large, pleated, and olive green, sometimes picking up a sandy mustard tint if they hang too long. Shape is a wrinkled chinense, closer to an oversized Scotch Bonnet than a skinny scorpion, usually 5 to 8 cm. Walls are thin and the flesh is juicy. Flavor opens tangy and a little green-fruity, with a hint of melon rind or green apple, then a superhot burn. Plants are productive and often need a stake. Growers use it for green hot sauce, where the color and tang stay in the bottle.
Backstory
The 7 Pot name comes from a Trinidad saying that one pod will season seven pots of stew. This green-ripe line was isolated by Judy of Pepper Lover around 2010 and later kept in circulation by specialty seed houses after her shop faded.
